Talk It Out!
The Women’s Agenda team of Angela Priestley and Georgie Dent host a range of dynamic guests and discuss ideas on shifting the dial for women at work.
Episode #012 - Work It Out - featuring Mary Crooks
May 31, 2017
This week, we change the mood in the Eagle Waves Studio.
We’re feeling a little fed up, especially after seeing analysis on the Federal Budget’s real impact on women, along with a serious lack of response from the Office for Women and Minister for Women.
And we’re additionally concerned at the way women’s voices are being sidelined when it comes to some of the most significant issues of our time.
So it’s a good thing that Mary Crooks AO was able to join us on the phone from Melbourne.
Mary has decades of experience working for social change and for the rights of women and girls. She’s also been executive director of the Victorian Women’s Trust for more than two decades.
And she’s got some real and practical ideas on what any woman can do if she’s feeling fed up, frustrated, concerned or something else about our future.
Our guests also share their tip on how they personally ‘work it out’, and we learn a little more from Mary about her organisation’s interesting new HR initiative – a ‘menstruation policy’ enabling employees to take paid leave, to work from home, or rest in the office when the get their period.
